I have a weird way of organizing things/keeping “post its”. Instead of having actual post-its, I usually send myself an email with the message in the title. This way, I can see my post it anywhere I have internet access, and it constantly reminds me of what I need to do. If there are additional details I can type it into the body of the email.

Of course, some of you might wonder, “Doesn’t that get confusing with all the email you get?” Well, no. I keep my inbox clean often, meaning I archive anything I am done with and read everything else. Thus, only important things are marked as unread in my inbox. For example, having been home for the last week, my inbox has risen to 17 unread, and those are the 17 “post its” I’ve accumulated as I spent time at home. Most of them are of things I need to do when I get back to Baltimore, such as applying for internships, etc. Some of them are silly (“get a bigger tube of toothpaste in mah backpack”), and others are more serious (“nreip research lab internship, worth applying for!”).

I find this method of organization great and efficient for me. A recent development I’ve had in addition to this method is to put events on my google calendar, and I will get an email reminding myself to do whatever I need to do come the time. This is even better, but I don’t use it as much because most of my post-its are not time sensitive. Both of my methods revolve around having a clean and organized email, which I personally highly recommend.
